Main Street Wexford

All phases bar one were carried out by NBC under the direction of Wexford Borough Council. As with all streetscapes the finished product doesn’t demonstrate the difficult task in achieving the end result. Wexford Council had a very clear view of what they wanted to achieve on the narrow and historical main street.

With road width down to 3.0m in areas and limited access all works were carried out with mini and micro plant. The old unarmoured electric cables posed a particular risk in the project. These were carefully exposed before new cabling could be installed by ESB. This required finite planning as the main street had to have its power supply cut completely to enable switchover from old to new services.
