Waterford Flood Alleviation Phase 2,3,4

Following on from the success of the glass floodwalls of Phase 1 NBC was successful in winning the contract to complete the much larger contract for Phases 2,3 and 4. This offered protection to both domestic and commercial properties that had been blighted by flooding.

Over 2000 tonne of sheetpiles formed the backbone of the project often with severe access issues. Supplemented with embankments, stone faced walls, pumps and various gates and barriers the works were carried to tight ecological and environmental controls. Included in the contract was Japenese Knotweed eradication as well as design and fabrication pre-cast stone faced panels to cover exposed sheetpiles.

Mr. Gavin O’ Donovan of RPS Consulting Engineers presented a paper to Engineers Ireland on the scheme.
